Avera De Smet Memorial Hospital Joins Avera The Family
Thomas P. Rasmusson, President and CEO, Avera Queen of Peace Health Services, announces that effective July 1, 2008, De Smet Memorial Hospital has joined the Avera family network of hospitals, clinics, and other facilities, and to reflect the new relationship, the hospital’s name will become Avera De Smet Memorial Hospital.

Avera Health Named 2008 Most Wired and Most Wireless
For the tenth consecutive year, Avera Health has been named to the nation’s MOST WIRED and for the fifth year MOST WIRELESS, according to the results of the 2008 Most Wired Survey and Benchmarking Study released today in the July issue of Hospitals & Health Networks magazine. Avera Health is the only organization in the nation to be named to both lists since their inception.

Open House Slated For New Traumatic Brain Injury Unit In Irene
Sunrise Villa, South Dakota’s first long-term care facility specifically designed for Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) patients, will host an open house from 1-3 p.m. and 4:30-6:30 p.m. Monday, July 14. The facility, located adjacent to Sunrise Manor/Avera in Irene, will begin serving patients in the middle of August.

Avera Funding for Community Health Passes $4.5 Million
These are just some of the 32 projects that will receive 2008 grants from the Avera Community Service Fund. Sr. Mildred Busch, chair of the Avera Health Board of Directors and System Member, announced the grants today. Awards total $295,900 this year.
