Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit
The Avera McKennan NICU is a Level III facility staffed by physicians, nurse practitioners and staff with specific training in high risk neonatal care. Our NICU has 27 Level III beds, and offers a full range of services including varying levels of care from intermediate to critical and unstable infants.

Sometimes, circumstances arise that make it impossible to transport a child experiencing a health crisis; times when the immediate consultation of a neonatal or pediatric specialist may improve the child's chances for survival. That's why we're here - to offer additional support to specialists.
