Preparing For A Hospital Visit

If you are coming to an Avera McKennan facility you should be aware of some important information before arriving.

Before Coming to the Hospital

Your physician's office should provide you with specific information about preparing for an upcoming procedure or hospital stay but we offer some general tips and reminders. To read more about preparing you or your child for a hospital visit, follow these links:

Contact a Pre-admissions Nurse

If you are having a surgical procedure, a preadmission nurse may need to complete a health assessment. If you have not received a phone call from our preadmission nurses, please complete this Contact a Preadmissions Nurse Form to tell us the best way they can reach you.

The pre-admissions nurses are available Monday through Friday 8 AM to 6:30 PM and Saturday from 8 AM to 4:30 PM.

Safety at the Hospital

We think it's important for you to take an active role in your healthcare safety. To help you, we offer information about making your medical visits safer and more productive. Please follow the links to learn more:

Where to Park

Free parking is available in the North Ramp and South Ramp connected by skywalks to the hospital and other buildings on campus. Go to our campus maps and parking page to learn more.
